History

The two brothers & directors of Island Services namely Mark & George Stacey have a combined 78 year experience in the ventilation industry, originally starting along with other siblings and their father, in a family business Bellegrove Sheet Metal Products formed by their father in 1963.

The company was highly innovative providing bespoke equipment, providing problem solving services and highly efficient site installations, the company always strived to be at the cutting edge of technology and provided many firsts in the industry, in the early seventies the company designed and manufactured solar panels, moving on to air handling units with energy recovery in the eighties incorporating air to air plate heat exchangers, run around coils and refrigerant to water exchangers.

In the mid eighties to the early nineties the company helped pioneer a new generation of dry coolers and air cooled condensers to sell alongside the Air Handling units, working with Zheil abeg to design 0-100% speed control for multiple fans also altering the standard Zheil abeg fan  inlet plate to accept the fan at what was normally the discharge end thus the square plate becoming part of the fan deck Zheil noted our alteration &  provided fixing points either end on the most dry coolers are now built this way, next the company added a adiabatic spray system to enhance the performance & energy efficiency of the units the system was unique at the time utilising an ultra violet sterilising unit and total self draining pipe work, the company manufactured and sold the units  through an agent RVS to clients including:- York International, Carrier, Matthew Halls, Liebert etc.  The largest bespoke dry cooler the company built was at the Westminster and Chelsea hospital in the early nineties  this had 48 No. 1250mm diameter fans!

As well as manufacturing it's own equipment the company manufactured frames, panels and internal components for several other major Air Handling Unit companies who just assembled their units. Woods air movement approached the company with a view to manufacturing bespoke air handling units, twin fan extract units, site installations  including flat pack and overspill work, after rigorous inspection of our factory by Woods  quality control personnel we proceeded to manufacture a new Woods range of air handling units with duties up to 6m3/s to compliment their own larger range this task was completed and became the Woods air pack “Preferred Range”

In 1999 the company designed and manufactured a packaged fresh air supply and extract unit incorporating energy recovery, climate control (heating and cooling via integral heat pump) & backward curved external rotor motor impeller fans with the advantage of no external condensing unit, the unit was designed for luxury high rise apartments requiring just an inlet and  exhaust grille on the external of the apartment as the unit condensed with the extract air being only 300mm high, 1100mm long and 700mm wide it fitted above the bathroom ceiling the unit provided supply and extract to each room recovering heat or cooling energy via the integral non mechanical heat exchanger without mixing the air flows automatic heating or cooling was provided with instant change over either side of the desired temperature set on the state of the art LCD controller, which also had a modem allowing the owner to phone the unit remotely from a land line or mobile and interact with an automated voice to switch the unit on or off or adjust the heating & cooling settings 16 years before Hive!  Several hundred units were installed and are still in use today.

As previously mentioned two of the brothers from Bellegrove formed Island Services Ltd in 2003 continuing in the same vein of innovation & in particular providing solutions to problematic projects Island Manufacture bespoke Air Handling Units with or without energy recovery complete with ventilation systems including flat packing of built units too component parts relocating the parts then rebuilding the unit.

Island services also offer a on site refurbishment of existing equipment including upgrading if required this is a cost effective alternative to new plant especially where access for new plant is not possible.

Island Services have and continue to manufacture bespoke units for Systemair Fans & Spares for the last 25 years and are the approved installer for the majority of their Air Handling Units.
